Now is our chance to say thank you
This week is Volunteers’ Week, a national event that runs from 1-7 June. It’s a fantastic opportunity for charities across the country to recognise the incredible difference our volunteers make and to shine a light on the impact they have on our work. With eight volunteers for every member of staff, we simply couldn't exist without you, our wonderful volunteers.
Our volunteers are the driving force behind our success and have some wonderful stories to tell.
They support all areas of our work from helping shops run smoothly, to marshalling our mass participation events and planning and hosting 24-hour Relay events up and down the UK. Read some of their stories here, including Sam’s on why she loves being a stage host at Race for Life.
From our homes to yours, thank you!
Thanks to volunteers like you, we’ve made huge advances in the prevention, detection and treatment of cancer.
With our shops closed and events on hold, we’re all missing your energy and passion. So here are a few of the team (plus special guests) to say a HUGE thank you!
Laura’s marathon memories
"I love volunteering, it’s given me so much joy over the years. This photo was taken when I volunteered as a cheerer at the London Marathon, just before I got my job at Cancer Research UK. It was the best day – I completely lost my voice by the end!
"Now I manage communications to our amazing volunteer community, making sure they feel supported and recognised. Like many, I’ve lost wonderful people too soon because of cancer. Yes I'm a member of staff now, but I still volunteer my time to bring forward the day when all cancers are cured."
We need the support of our volunteers now more than ever. Join the conversation on social media this Volunteers' Week - #MyCRUKMemories
