About Stand Up To Cancer
October sees the return of our Stand Up To Cancer campaign.
Brought to you by Cancer Research UK and Channel 4, Stand Up To Cancer is a fundraising campaign that brings the UK together to speed up progress in life-saving cancer research. All the money raised accelerates taking developments from the lab into new tests and treatments for cancer patients who need them.
We stand up to cancer for people like Brett, who was diagnosed with a grade 4 glioblastoma brain tumour in 2015. He sadly passed away in February 2019, just hours after his wife, Nicola, gave birth to their third child. Brett's video shows the powerful story of how cancer can impact a family.By signing up to be a Virtual Collection Volunteer, you’ll join a united force of supporters standing up to cancer across the country.
About the Virtual Collection Volunteer Role
At this time of year, we’d usually be asking our team of volunteers to take to their local high streets with their bucket and raise money for Cancer Research UK in support of the Stand Up To Cancer campaign.
This year, we need to raise money for vital research more than ever. But we need to do things a little differently. So, this October, we’re looking for volunteers to carry out their own virtual collections.
COVID-19 has slowed us down. Right now, people with cancer desperately need new breakthroughs to keep them alive, which is why we are absolutely determined to continue our life-saving cancer research.
Raise cash. Save Lives. Stand Up To Cancer.
What you'll be doing
A virtual collection happens entirely online, and we’ll make it as easy as possible for you to promote yours, giving you lots of hints and tips for bringing your fundraising page to life.
Stand Up to Cancer virtual collection week runs between 16 – 24 October. During this week you’ll pick one day to shout about your virtual collection, asking your UK -based networks to donate to Cancer Research UK using your dedicated Giving Page. You’ll reach out to friends, family, colleagues, local community groups – everyone and anyone you can think of!
You’ll share our key messages with as many people as possible across your networks and encourage them to donate.
