More information

Genetic Alliance UK are hosting a week of events all about cancer genetics. Genome Seq Week is a week of talks and discussions, during which we'll be asking how genetics and genomics research could change and improve the way we treat cancer.

They are hosting a Twitter chat, collaborating with the Wellcome Trust on a lunchtime talk, and hosting an evening public discussion about personalised medicine and its use in clinical cancer care. There are some exciting speakers lined up, all working at the forefront of this evolving approach to treating cancer.

Follow @GeneticAll_UK to join the Twitter chat at 2pm on Monday 7th March. They'll be joined by consultant geneticist Dr Shane Mckee, BRCA Umbrella founder, Caroline Presho and Bloodwise's Head of Research Matt Kaiser. They want to hear your questions about how genome sequencing can be used in cancer prediction and treatment, and what it's like receiving a diagnosis of an increased risk of developing cancer.

Pack a lunchbox and head to the Wellcome Collection on Euston Road at 1pm on March 9th to hear Dr Charlotte Pawlyn discuss her research on personalised medicine treatments for myeloma patients.

At 7pm on March 10th (venue TBC), hear from Dr Clare Turnball, senior ICR researcher, what her tam is learning about cancer genetics in the lab, and from Dr Katie Snape, consultant in clinical genetics at St George's Hospital about how this can be put into practice in the clinic.
