Manchester Beats Cancer – Business Project Volunteer

The Manchester business community has the potential to make a huge impact on the pioneering and vital work carried out by Cancer Research UK, by organising a fundraising event with the aim of raising £50,000 for life-saving research. We are looking for people to support a board of highly dynamic and driven volunteers from the world of business, to create a new corporate event and help us beat cancer.

Cancer Research UK is the only charity with the knowledge and expertise to tackle all 200 types of cancer, and the support of volunteers is vital in helping us bring forward the day when all cancers can be cured.

What will you be doing?

This is a high-level project, so you should have an excellent network in the business and professional communities within Greater Manchester and and be willing to open these networks up to benefit the activities of the board. You will provide your valuable insight and support, playing a key role in delivering a fundraising event which brings together businesses across the city to support Cancer Research UK. We are looking for a range of experience and capabilities that could include anyone:

  • With marketing experience, for example a Marketing or Communications Director
  • From a legal background who is diligent and has attention to detail, who understands the importance of compliance
  • With experience of high level event management
  • From a professional services background who has an excellent network of business contacts, for example, financial services, stockbroking.

The type of person we’re looking for

We are seeking to recruit confident, dynamic and driven individuals who are willing to commit time to see this project from beginning to end.  You will need to be ambitious, tenacious and not afraid to make ‘the ask’. You should also be approachable, flexible and able to work as part of a team, as that will be key to the board’s success.

Where will this role be based?

This is a home-based role; however, part of your role will include attending monthly meetings in the Manchester area.
