Why we need you:

Do you long for the day when all cancers are cured? Did you know that Cancer Research UK is the only charity with the knowledge and expertise to tackle all 200 types of cancer?

If you have a keen eye for numbers, and the thought of balancing the books makes your heart skip a beat…then read on! We’re on the lookout for an organised and motivated accountant to join our voluntary Business Beats Cancer Birmingham board.

The board began in 2015 and since then has organised three large business dinner events in the city, attracting some of the biggest business in the area and raising over £50,000 so far! Their next dinner is taking place on 6th February 2020 and, with a new venue and lots of exciting ideas, it looks set to be their biggest and best yet with more than 200 attendees.

If you want to meet like mind people beating cancer, increase your local network and help bring forward the day when all cancers are cured, then look no further. You will play a vital role by ensuring all financial processes and procedures are followed.

What will you be doing?

  • Keeping accurate and up-to-date financial records of income and expenditure
  • Act as one of the main signatories on the board bank account and take lead responsibility for counting and depositing money
  • Reporting to Cancer Research UK at required times throughout the year, working accurately and thoroughly using Cancer Research UK’s accountancy documents

The type of person we are looking for?

We're looking for a savvy numbers guru with the ability to interpret and draw conclusions from a range of numerical data. You will be able to plan and prioritise multiple tasks and keep accurate records. It would be fantastic if you had working knowledge of gift aid and its benefits. You will also be able to communicate information clearly and build and maintain relationships with others effectively.

Where will this role be based?

This is a home based role in Birmingham, however part of your role will include you attending board meetings monthly in the city centre.

How much time do you need to commit?

As this is a flexible volunteering opportunity this is something to discuss with your Local Fundraising Manager.

Register your interest today and the Volunteering Team will then get in touch.
