A gift of £250 could support a PhD student for almost 3 days. Our training programme equips students with skills they’ll need to make the research breakthroughs of the future.

Natalie, a dance teacher and mother of two daughters, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019 after finding a lump in her breast.
A genetic test showed she had a rare fault in the BRCA2 gene, a gene that a group of our scientists discovered in 1995. Meaning people who are more at risk of breast cancer can be identified and therefore diagnosed earlier.
Thanks to your donations, we were able to spend £62m in the last year on diagnosing cancer earlier, when treatment is more effective, helping people like Natalie.

The REI-EXCISE team are trialling a new tool that aids surgeons to accurately remove the cancer during surgery. They hope this approach will enhance breast cancer surgery and improve outcomes for people with this cancer.
