Sarah's Walk All Over Cancer

After being diagnosed with breast cancer myself, I wanted to take on a challenge to support Cancer Research UK's vital work. Walk All Over Cancer was the perfect motivation to get outside and get active and I managed to walk around 15,000 steps a day!

The ultimate challenge for a healthy lifestyle

With Walk All Over Cancer, you're in control and just getting out of the house for a walk can do us the world of good. There are huge health benefits when you commit to 10,000 steps a day.

  • Walking can improve fitness

Regular walking can help you maintain a healthy weight, burn calories and help tone muscles.

  • Walking is a COVID-safe activity

Outdoor activities are a safe way to exercise in the current climate. Always check the government guidelines before you head out.

  • Walking is good for our mental health

It’s the perfect way to zone-out and rid yourself of any daily stress. Plus, the exercise-induced endorphins will leave you feeling better than ever.

  • Walking can help lower blood pressure

Being active can help lower blood pressure and your risk of heart problems in the future.

Based on the average person’s stride, 10,000 steps is equal to 5 miles (or 8 km) or an hour and 40 minutes walking, depending on your stride length and walking speed.

So by the end of the month you’ll have pelted through 150 miles - about the distance from London to Manchester (or Paris to Brussels if you want to be all continental).

We understand it has become more difficult to complete your 10,000 steps, but we can’t thank you enough for your support. Don't panic if you need to put your challenge on pause or you're unable to complete your daily steps. You can simply resume the challenge once it’s safe for you to do so.

Don’t panic if you have an off day. You could always make the steps up on a nice weekend walk with the family – or just put in a bit of extra effort and make up the numbers across the next week

This is your challenge so we don’t need to proof of your completed steps. But you might like to share your progress through your social media accounts or your Giving Page to keep your supporters up to date.

Don't worry we trust you. You don't need to send us your step count but we do recommend posting out about your progress onto your Giving Page to let all your friends and family know how you're getting on with your challenge.

We're with you every step of the way
