Plan your Journey
Don’t get stranded, plan your journey
This year’s Shine London Night Walk will start at Southwark Park and end at iconic Old Billingsgate. It’s really important to plan in advance how you’re going to get to and from the venues, especially overnight when some public transport won’t be running. There is no parking near the start or finish venues so we recommend using public transport. Please aim to arrive at Southwark Park one hour before your start time.
London's Car Free day - Sunday 22nd September
London's biggest ever Car Free Day celebration will take place on 20km of traffic-free roads around Tower Bridge, London Bridge and the City of London on Sunday 22nd September. Before you plan your travel home from Old Billingsgate, we would recommend you visit www.london.gov.uk/reimagine to find out more.
On the day travel information can also be found at www.tfl.gov.uk.
At the start venue you’ll find toilets, refreshments, merchandise stands, a bag drop and an enquiries stand.
Public transport is recommended, there will be no official event car parks or drop off points at Southwark Park. You may want to use the Surrey Quays Shopping Centre car park, on Deal Porters Way, as a drop off point. Please note that parking time is restricted to four hours.
Please use Canada Water and Surrey Quays stations, and avoid using Bermondsey station to prevent delays getting into Southwark Park. Do not park or get dropped off in residential areas around Southwark Park.
1 Old Billingsgate Walk
At the finish venue you’ll find toilets, refreshments, bag collection, a taxi rank, first aid and a travel help desk.
We will arrange taxi service on the night. We recommend you download the Gett app and request your Gett taxi when you finish (add GETTSHINE19 to the coupon code section of the app to get £5 off your first three rides - new users only), or walk to the event rank to pick one up.
Please remember that some Underground and Railway stations may not be open when you finish your walk, so make sure you plan ahead. There are no official event car parks and vehicles are not permitted to stop/wait outside the venue and Lower Thames St, or around Monument, so please look at the NCP website to find the nearest parking.
