About Shine Night Walk Belfast
Raise crucial funds with every step from, Grand Opera House to George's Market.
People of all abilities can take part.
The 10k walk will take between 1.5 to 3 hours to complete.
When you sign up for Shine Night Walk you can select to fundraise for a type of cancer research that is closest to your heart.

Starting and finishing at Belfast City Hall the route will take you past Ulster Museum, over Queen Elizabeth II Bridge and past the Albert Memorial Clock.

"A friend asked if anyone would like to join her at Shine Night Walk Manchester I jumped at the chance. I have been treated for cancer twice so know how important Cancer Research UK is in helping those affected by cancer. We formed a team of six- our ages span every decade from 30 to 70. The night was well organised with plenty of stewards giving encouragement and making sure the route was clear. So many people out enjoying their Saturday night clapped and congratulated us as we walked past. This added to an already great atmosphere. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and were pleased to have raised over £2,000 for such an important charity. We came away with a real buzz. I’d definitely recommend taking part"

What fundraising can do
1 in 2 people born in the UK after 1960 will get cancer in their lifetime*. Our research saves lives.
Over the last 40 years, Cancer Research UK's work has helped double breast cancer survival, we were a key player in the development of radiotherapy, and we played a role in developing 8 of the world’s top 10 cancer drugs.
Although we are proud of our achievements, there is still more to be done. The money you raise will help to bring us closer to our ambition of 3 in 4 people surviving their cancer for 10 years or more by 2034.
How fundraising helps Belfast
In Belfast, our Adult Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre, which we co-fund with the health department in Northern Ireland, brings together lab scientists and cancer doctors from local universities and NHS trusts to speed up the flow of ideas and new treatments from the lab to the clinic.
Cancer Research UK spent over £2 million in Belfast in 2021/22.
Research happening right now in Belfast includes:
- Looking for new ways to treat breast cancer.
- Finding new ways to prevent oesophageal cancer and improve survival.
- Finding new ways to tackle bowel cancer.

Please bring your own reusable water bottle filled. We have removed our single-use plastic bottles of water at the finish and pit stop stations and instead are providing water re-fill stations for you to top up and stay hydrated!

The start is located at the west side of the City Hall Gardens.
Car - There are a number of city centre car parks. The nearest is the NCP car park Belfast Montgomery Street which is a 5 minute walk away. Turn left out of the car park and left again onto Chichester Street, City Hall will be on your left.
Bus - Nearest bus stops are Donegall Square South, Donegall Square East, Adelaide Street - bus services 10D, 13, 1E, 2B, 2C, 2G, 600, 9A.
Train - Nearest train station is Lanyon Place.
Cycle - There are Belfast Bikes available around the City, including just in front of the City Hall gardens.
