Mothercare joins the fight for women's survival
Mothercare has long been synonymous with essential products for mothers-to-be, parents, babies and young children. This year, Mothercare is launching a collection of special pink products into their trusted babycare and feeding range in support of Cancer Research UK’s breast cancer awareness campaign.
The collaboration between Mothercare and Cancer Research UK will raise money to support the charity’s work, raising over £100,000 during an 18 month period. Mothercare will be selling a new, limited-edition pink range, which includes a soft pink multi-purpose pillow, a pink steam steriliser pod, a pink manual breast pump and an assortment of other new mother essentials.*
Cancer Research UK’s new breast cancer awareness campaign, ‘Join the fight for women’s survival’, has been launched to raise awareness of breast cancer and funds for more research into the disease, in October and throughout the year. Breast cancer is the most common women’s cancer in the UK, with more than 45,000 women diagnosed with the disease each year. The good news is, thanks to earlier detection and improved treatment, breast cancer death rates in the UK have fallen by a fifth over the last ten years. Of those women diagnosed with breast cancer today, two-thirds are likely to survive for at least 20 years.
Cancer Research UK’s work to beat breast cancer remains crucial. The charity is the largest single funder of breast cancer research in the UK, spending around £44 million on groundbreaking work into the disease last year.
Jo Ledsham, Divisional Buying Director at Mothercare said: “We’re delighted to be working with Cancer Research UK for the first time this year. ‘Join the fight for women’s survival’ is such an important campaign and I’m sure that our customers will join us in supporting it. In supporting the charity we hope to help more people beat cancer through its important research.”
The pink products will be on sale in Mothercare stores and at www.mothercare.com from July 2009.
