I was diagnosed with myeloma 5 years ago at the age of 44. I had never heard of it, it's anime marrow cancer. I'd had a bad back for over a year so had a scan which showed a tumour on my sacrum
I had 4 mths of chemo then a stem cell transplant. I was lucky and got into complete remission. I had no infections and responded well to all treatment. I got on a trial so had a new drug not available here so I consider myself very lucky regarding treatment.
I have been in remission for over 4 years now but I know that the myeloma will come back and I will have to go through the treatment again. I go to see my consultant every 2 months. My count went outside the norm last summer but has currently stabilised again.
