Worried about testicular cancer, or isn’t it a cyst or somet

9 Sep 2019 23:00

For a while now ive had two lumps on my testicles, one on either ball and since realising them I’ve been very worried about it being cancer, the lump/whatever it is starts as harder extension on the top of the testicle and as it goes around the testicle, becomes smaller and softer until it’s just the regular testicle. One of them is larger than the other, but same form of going around the testicle and getting smaller, I’m 14 and have health anxiety and find it hard to open up about these things

thanks, will

Worried about testicular cancer, or isn’t it a cyst or somet

Hi Will and thanks for posting on the forum,

I am so sorry that you are feeling anxious.  I can understand if you feel that  it is difficult to share this with someone but it may help you feel less anxious if you can share it with a responsible adult like your parents.   Lumps in testicles are quite common and it would be very unlikely to be cancer.

We are unable to tell you what it is but it may well turn out to be a harmless cyst.  The best thing would be is to make an appointment with your GP (family doctor).  They are used to seeing lumps and bumps in all sorts of places and they are very good at putting people at ease. You could always ask to see a male doctor if that would make you feel more comfortable.

NHS Inform have written some information about testicular lumps which you might find quite helpful to have a look at here

Do try and make an appointment soon so you can get some reassurance.

I hope this has been helpful.

Best Wishes,

Catherine
