Waiting for mri results

Hi I had an mri scan 2 weeks ago and have been really anxious about the results (tonsil lump)

I rang the secretary yesterday to be told the scan is back and the first available appointment she can give me is in 3 weeks time..

Initially I thought this sounded like good news as they wern't rushing me back but on overthinking it I'm now wondering has the scan even been looked at yet or is it just back ready to be looked at?

Will someone have read it before it went back to my consultant and flagged up anything sinister..

Any thoughts.

Thank you

  • I'm in the same situation .
I had a Ct scan 8 days ago and the secretary told me yesterday that it's ready to be reviewed and doesn't know when they will ring me .
This was an urgent scan too .
    it's a horrible situation isn't it ?
I really feel and understand your anxiety .

  • Kodi thank you for your reply, its an awful situation especially when your anxious.

  • Yes me too .
I hope someone has read them and think they're ok to leave .

    Hi Pvfc4eva and Kodi,

I just want to reassure you that your consultant always holds a Multidisciplinary Team Meeting (MDT) to discuss the findings of any scans with colleagues, before getting back to you. This allows the team to decide whether or not all is good or, what surgery or treatment is planned if needed.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thankyou .
This makes me feel a bit easier .
Hopefully I will find out soon .

    Hi Kodi,

I hope that you hear soon. It usually takes 1-2 weeks to get results back, but this can vary throughout the country.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

  • Thankyou so much .

im struggling because I'm having to act normal infront of my daughter with additional needs .

ive been shielding her since March 20 .
I don't want to put anxiety into my husband and I  don't want to worry my mum who's 90 caring for my 95 year old dad .
you need your mum at these times don't you ?
just hoping they've got it wrong .
I've been reading late onset asthma ?
but it doesn't say you struggle breathing all the time or chest pain .
I'm stopping googling now and just waiting .

    Hi Kodi,

It sounds as if you have an awful lot on your plate.. Not having anyone to talk to about this really heightens your anxiety. Having your mum to lean on is always a help, but I can understand why you don't want to burden her with this, when she is caring for your dad.

Please try to steer clear of 'Dr Google'. Much of the information here is out of date, poorly researched, inaccurate or aimed at the spectacular. You don't yet know what, if anything, is up with you, so you will only succeed in scaring yourself rigid and, for no useful purpose. Just remember that 'it's not cancer until you're told that it's cancer.'

I do so hope that they've got it wrong.

Don't forget to let us know when you hear something.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
