Together we will beat cancer

Upcoming jaw bone tumour removal op

17 May 2019 09:57

Hi everyone.

I was diagnosed with Stage 2 Ewing's Sarcoma almost 5 months ago now. When I first got diagnosed I had 2 tumours, I now have 8. The most recent one that was found was one in the left side of my jaw bone. I was told earlier this morning that on Monday I will be having it removed. This will be my third operation since I was diagnosed.

A lot of people with my type of cancer have to have bone grafts and amputations. I've been told that I will need a bone graft and I will also have to have some of my teeth taken out and I will also have to be fed through a tube for 6 to 8 weeks afterwards. So needless to say, it won't be a simple op!

If anyone has any experience of anything that I've spoken about, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you

Dont have any experience but wanted to give you some support.  i am having Epiglottis operated on next Thursday and will have feeding tube as well, wether this will be temporary or permanent depends on how much they have to cut away and wether I can manage to eat without aspirating my lungs so I can sympathise with you.  Lots of hugs keep us posted on how you get on.
