Thinking

Hi

i have cervical cancer early stages Ib2 and was told last that I would be having a hysterectomy and radiotherapy by my local hospital but another hospital are saying chemotherapy and radiotherapy, surely hysterectomy would be better as it will be all gone ? As I don't want anymore children as I have 2 (1 boy 20 and a girl 15)

just wondering what people thought ?

Xx

  • Hi Limesbabe,

I'm sorry to hear you've been told you have cervical cancer but it's good that it's in the early stages and treatment is available. If you're not going to be having your treatment at your local hospital maybe you could discuss the option of having a hysterectomy with the other hospital and see what they say. Our cancer nurses may be able to give some insight in to this as well so if you would like to chat to them you can call them for free on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

I've had a look around a forum and the lovely [@LauraP]‍ comes to mind as she has been in a similar situation to yourself and now that I've tagged her in the post I'm sure she will post when she get a chance to say hello and share her thoughts and experiences with you. If you use the 'search forum' option above you can also look for other discussions about this as well.

I hope as goes well Limesbabe. Do keep us updated when you can and remember that we're always here if you need us.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi

Thank you for your reply :)

Yes i might have a word with the other hospital and see what they say but in meantime i will look out for laura's post

    Thanks

  • Hi Limesbabe

i have early cervix cancer too. I had the procedure yesterday to check bladder, womb and rectum, after I woke the consultant came to see me. He said chemical action for my case. I asked about surgical and he said that while surgical is often good it can need chemical too. So rather than have an op then have to cope with chemicals he recommends chemical as it is just as effective on its own.

    I hope that makes sense!

  • Thank you for your reply, I asked my gp yesterday he said that chemoradiotherapy is just as effective plus after they will keep checks on me afterwards. So now I am just going to the chemicals Sorry to hear about you

  • Hello,

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis but it sounds like they have caught it at an early stage.  Mine was 2A and I had chemo, 26 rounds of external and 6 rounds of internal radiation. That was 4 and a half years ago.  Because I had complication early on I could not have surgery but it has worked out for me.  If you end up going the chemo/radiation route, don't be afraid as you can handle it. I felt tired out and had a sour stomach sometimes but overall not too bad. Now, everyone's situation is different and I only had to have 5 rounds of chemo.  You may need a different amount.  I have heard of women that have the surgery and then end up needing chemo anyway.  The important thing is that you caught it, you will get treatment and then move on with your life! Let me know if you have any questions or want to talk. Also, I have made a good friend on here who also has had cervical cancer, [@Barleydog]‍  Maybe she will give you some more insights.

Hope to hear from you soon.

  • Hi mine is cervical cancer 2B . Not sure how long treatment will or anything but I hope they don't keep me waiting too long, I am currently do a nightshift and thank you for your reply and reading my post

  • Hi Limesbabe

Im also 2B and find out tomorrow what the battle plan is. I know we are different but at least we are not alone. I was told this is a 'common' one so is 'routein' to the doctors, they know how to get rid of it.

Mine is cervix and cervix ligaments. I'm facing chemical attack and am scared.

I've had general surgery before and I know how my body copes with it, that I'd be fine. I haven't a clue how I will cope with this and that scares me.

Have you not been given any idea of when you will find out?

    Regards

  • Hi

on my hospital notes it's adenosquamous cervix cancer stage 2B, I know we should not  google but now I have names and grades I did and it came with this

    Adenosquamous carcinoma

Adenosquamous cancers are tumours that contain both squamous and glandular cancer cells. This is a rare type of cervical cancer which makes up between 20 to 30% of adenocarcinomas.

At the moment I have no idea of when I will be getting treatment but hopefully soon.

Hope your alright, off for a sleep just got off nightshift

    speak soon
