Swollen lymph glands in neck

Hi

I am so glad I have come across this thread and was hoping for your thoughts.

In June I found a small lump under my chin. Went the to the Drs who said it wasn’t sinister and probably fighting an infection. However booked another appointment for two weeks to monitor. Lump hadn’t gone down so went again after two weeks. Dr said she was not unduly worried  but booked blood tests in for 4 weeks after. She also said that I had a nose infection and gave me some cream. Blood tests revealed that I had slightly raised white blood cells and I was low on iron. I am to repeat these tests in two weeks time.

However in the meantime I have found another lump under my neck. I went back to the Dr who said she couldn’t feel it (it’s bigger then the original lump under my chin!!). She did however say that the lump under my  chin is harder then she would like. I asked her to check my nose . She said it was pink but not infected. My anxiety is reaching unmanageable levels..  I have been referred to the hospital on the two week pathway (head and neck) .

I have googled my symptoms (not a good idea) and have convinced myself I have cancer. Under my neck is a little swollen but I have been poking at it all the time . I have a little cough and a sore throat that comes and goes. I’m not sure how much of this cough is anxiety related.

  • Welcome to the forum Reedy although I'm sorry for the reason you're joining us.

Finding unexplained lumps is always a bit worrying but you did the right thing by going to your doctor and hopefully your referral can give you some answers about what's going on.

Our members know how difficult this time can be so fingers crossed you'll receive some support and kind words from them soon but in the meantime try to stay away from Dr.Google and try to take your mind off this by keeping busy and doing things you enjoy.

    Kind regards,
