SIRT

I had SIRT 3 weeks ago and feel like my energy has literally been drained from me. I have slept the last 3 days and nights but managed to make my Xmas cake today, so now I’m back on the settee completely drained, I struggle to walk upstairs it’s crazy. Would love to hear from anyone who has had the same treatment, thank you

  • Hello Denby and welcome to the forum - I really like your avatar, such a lovely image :)

I know you're hoping to hear from others who have had the same treatment so I've had a quick look through the forum for you and unfortunately no-one has posted about this lately but many of our members know about the difficulties of coping with tiredness as a side effect from other cancer treatments and hopefully someone will be along soon to offer their support and advice on how they managed.

We have some information on our website about SIRT including how long the tiredness should last but if you have any other questions do give our cancer nurses a call. They're freephone number is 0808 800 4040 and are available Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

I hope you start feeling better soon Denby.

    Kind regards,

    Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator

  • Hello Denby,

I read your message and did not respond hoping that you would get replies with the information that you were seeking.  I asked about SIRT  towards the end of 2016 as my son was going to have this treatment and did not get much response at that time.  I assumed that it was a very specialised treatment. After reading your post I looked on the Macmillan site to see if there was any new information and could not see any.  So I am sorry that I am unable to offer any nuggets of information for you.  I hope your symptoms pass soon and I am sooo impressed that you have made your christmas cake already, I made wedding cakes and christmas cakes in my past life and your message has put me to shame, so have fruit soaking to get mine made so it can mature and get its brandy/rum/pedro ximenthe feed before marzinpan etc.  I wish you well and hope the SIRT has done its job thoroughly for you.xx leslie
