Hello Brandi and thanks for your post

I am sorry that your mum is feeling anxious. It is always a worrying time when waiting to find out what might be wrong.

There could be other reasons for the shadow in her lung such as scar tissue or infection.

I can appreciate you want to get as much information as possible before your mum gets her scan results but unfortunately it is not possible to anticipate what they are going to tell her. It’s not uncommon to fear the worse but it’s also possible that nothing serious may be the matter.

Waiting is never easy and I’m afraid there is no real way round this. Some people find sticking to a routine and keeping busy and talking to family and friends can sometimes help. But until you both know more it’s natural to worry.

I hope you know more about your situation soon. If you would like to talk this through with one of the nurses directly, you can telephone us on 0808 800 4040.  We are here from Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm.

Kind Regards,
