Let's beat cancer sooner

scared of bad news

15 Aug 2017 17:32

hi,

I have secondary cancer cells in the lymph nodes in my neck. Yesterday I had a MRI scan with contrast on my neck, face and head. Straight after I had a CAT scan with contrast on my neck thorax and abdomen to determine where the primary lesion is.

Today, the day after, the ENT consultant left an answer phone message on my phone that he wants to see me on Thursday 17th August. (2 days after the scans) for a review. I was told that the results would be 1-4 weeks.

Should I fear the worst as he has called me so quickly?

I am really scared so could someone just be brutally honest so I can prepare myself for the worst.

Hello,

I am not sure what the quick call back means but think of it as getting started with your plan quicker. You don't want  to wait around for treatment!  You will be proactive and take control of your treatment, think of it that way.  I wish you well, let me know how it goes.  I'll be praying for you.

Hello Bingo66,

Thank you for posting on Cancer Chat.

I really do not know why your consultant called you and requested that he wants to see you tomorrow.  They may have more news based upon the scans you had but I am not sure because everyone’s situation is so unique it isn’t possible to say what is happening.  I am afraid that it really is only when you get to speak with your consultant that you will know more about what is happening.

Having tests and waiting for the results can be a really difficult time but I am afraid there is no easy way around this. I hope you are getting support at this time. Please do get back to us if you have any more questions or call us on 0808 800 4040. We are here from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

Take care

Caroline
