Please can someone offer advice

9 Feb 2018 12:48

Hi

I am 38 and have a long history of heavy periods with clots. I have been on the combined contraceptive pill on and off since I was 16. I have also sufferers from clear discharge for a long time I put that down to the pill. It doesn't smell.

I take the pill for 3 blister packs at a time. Just before Christmas I had breakthrough bleeding which didn't stop so i took a week off my pill. After a 7 day break I went back on it and have had no bleeding since. I GMhave gad oelvic pain though twinges.

I had an external and internal ultrasound yesterday and was told I have an enlarged uterus. The sonographer said there was nothing sinister to see. She put it down to fibroid activity but didn't see any fibroids and or endometriosis.

I am concerned that no other tests are being done. She said my cervix looks healthy and I shouldn't be concerned but I am.

Thanks xx

Hello Blueberry14.  Welcome also.

We who post on this forum do not have medical training - but many posters have experience of having gone through testing.  This may be best answered by the nurses here and I hope they may pick it up.   Normally I think posters should go to their GP if something is bothering them but I can understand that you may think you wish to take some more advice first.  As the sonographer said you were clear you don't want to be implying she was either incompetent or a liar!  I hope you get some more information soon on this website.  You can post this again onto the Ask the Nurses secction of the forum or wait until they pick it up by the moderators bringing it to their attention.  Best wishes.  Annie

Welcome to the forum Blueberry14 although I'm sorry for the reason you are posting.

If you are concerned about no other tests being done maybe you can book in with your GP to find out why. This way you can voice your concerns and see if any other options are available to you.

If you did want to get in touch with our cancer nurses, as Annieliz has mentioned, you can find them on the forum here or you can call them for free on 0808 800 4040,  Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Kind regards,

Steph, Cancer Chat Moderator

Hi Blueberry 14 I had the same ultrasound last Wednesday then had to go for a biopsy after I am sure if they found anything suspicious they would of sent you for a biopsy . Go back to your GP if you are worried. Good Luck xx
