Pancreatic cancer with metastasis in liver

Hi,

I have this diagnostic and going through chemo ( round 3). Is there any other treatment? What is the rate of success of the chemo?

Sanda

  • Hello Sanda

I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I hope that treatment isn't proving too harsh at the moment.

We do have some information on our website here which may be of interest but I'd suggest giving our team of nurses a call. I'm sure they will be happy to talk things through with you and offer any information or advice that they can. they're available Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm on 0808 800 4040.

    Best wishes,

  • Hello Sandy,

My wife had pancreatic cancer and had good days and bad days through her course of chemotherapy and I guess you may be experiencing side effects along with so many worries.

The best thing is to have a talk to your oncologist about your concerns, so press for an appointment.

Meanwhile check out the moderators reply (which is an automated reply),  there will be a real experienced person you can talk to on the phone number given to help you.

    Best Wishes!.

  • Hello Sanda,

It’s difficult to cope especially when you are feeling awful through Chemotherapy and it’s side effects.

I would like to think that I helped my wife cope by being with her during Chemotherapy and thinking positive about the treatment. Have you someone to help you through these difficult times?.

The phone number 0808 8004040 will be to a qualified person who will help you through all the concerns you have (they are there Monday to Friday. So please give them a ring Monday and have a chat.

    Best Wishes,

    Colin

  • Hello colinib,

Thank you for mentioning the nurses' number - a great tip! Just thought I'd mention to reassure you and sanda, the moderators' replies are not automated. We very much like the personal touch here. There's a real person there responding to users on the forum. I promise, I am real... I think ;)

I can understand why you would think that though as we do often share the nurse helpline number here so it may sound a bit like an automated message at times

  • Hello Sanda,

I replied to your post a couple of times concerning your diagnosis of pancreatic cancer and Chemotherapy treatment.

Just wandering how you have been over the last 2 months?.

    Regards,

    Colin

  • Hi Colin

i am on the 7th round of chemo vomiting a lot with anti sick medication

I lost a lot of weight

MRI shows the tumors are shrinking but I have no way of knowing if they will shrink enough to the end of chemo

    How are you?

    kind regards

    sanda

  • Hello again Sanda,

Its brilliant news that after having had 7 rounds of Chemotherapy treatment the tumours are shrinking and I guess you may be on a course of Chemo for quite a few months.

Side effects such as you are having are quite nasty, leaving you feeling worried and exhausted most of the time, and lots of weight loss is very common during Chemo which causes a great loss of appetite and taste.

Hopefully you manage to have some good days and make the most of them - try to keep positive that your treatment is working.

    Best Wishes,

    Colin
