Pain and bleeding following transvaginal ultrasound

23 Sep 2019 01:48

Been having constipation, heavier and more frequent then no period for 60 days followed by it stopping deaf after 3 days and a great deal of pain.

Yesterday I had both the external and internal ultrasound both hurt. Hurt over my right side during the external and the internal absolutely killed.

I am now cramping and bleeding

Anyone else had this?

Is it normal?

Hello everyone by the way, I'm 45 if that helps.

Pain and bleeding following transvaginal ultrasound

I had the external ultrasound scan 5 days ago for swelling in left lymph nodes since March 2019  in the groin and severe back pain and lymphoedma in vagina area.  i started bleeding 2 days ago.  I am 65yrs.  I do not know if this is normal.  Seeing Dr tomorrow as having oramorph and paracetomol for the pain.  I have a deep heavy cough which hurts my chest and lower abdomen when i cough.  I feel very sick weak and exhausted so have to pace myself daily.

I am really scared what the scan and blood tests will tell me.

What happens next if clear or not.  The scan showed a large mass in pelvic area and enlarged ovary hoping this can be treated with surgery due to complications that i may have.  Can anyone help me please?

Hello and thanks for posting,

I am sorry to hear about the symptoms you have been having, but it is good to hear these are being looked into.

Having an ultrasound scan can be uncomfortable and can cause some bleeding and cramping for a little while after. If however this is continuing or getting worse I suggest you try to speak to your GP. Failing this it is probably worth you calling NHS 111 for advice.

Hope things settle down soon.

Take care,

Naomi

Hi Mellymoo74

I'm sorry to hear that things are worsening. I can see that Nurse Naomi suggested earlier today that you contact your GP or call 111 if you are concerned. This is really good advice so please do give them a call if you're worried by your symptoms.

Best wishes,

Hello Lulu and thank you for postings question.  I am sorry to learn about your situation.

By now you may have seen your doctor and hopefully they have been able to help

Waiting for tests investigations and the results can be very stressful and so I can certainly understand that this must be  a worrying time, but until your reports are available it is not possible to know what is wrong.  I am afraid that I also don't know what will happen next. If your GP ordered the scan, they may then refer you on to a gynaecologist for further evaluation of the pelvic mass. If you are already under the care of a gynaecologist they may order more tests and work out a treatment plan. This could involve surgery but it is impossible to know at this stage.

Once all the results are available and a treatment plan is in place many people start to feel a little better. So hopefully you will know more soon.

I am sorry that I cannot be more specific , but you are welcome to get back to us if you have any other questions. If you think that it might help you are welcome to give us a call.  Our Freephone number is 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

Kind regards,

Jean
