Ovarian Cysts ... Long history

In the past few years I have had several surgeries to remove cysts. Dermoid, Heamorrhagic ive had it all!

Last week I found that I had excruciating pain (to the point I am currently taking naproxen 4 times a day and co codamol the same) and went to my GP. She arranged an emergency scan (yesterday) to which I found out that my current cyst has grown to 10x10x8 in just two months. Consultant was concerned at the rapid growth and so now im waiting for a CT scan, then removing it and biopsies.

With my previous cysts theyve always mentioned the possibility of cancer, but its always been a kind of well test but were not expecting anything. I get the feeling from my consultants face as she did the scan and the haste at which shes arranging scans and surgery this is different. Weirdly I am not that worried, i have this kind of weird calm. Like in my heart I know this is cancer, and I am ready to fight it ... but I just wanted to come here as I really dont know who to talk to about it

Thank you for reading.

  • Hi CharlotteLucy

Welcome to the forum. I'm sorry to hear that your cyst has grown and has given you so much pain in the past week. It sounds as if your GP and Consultant are both moving really quickly to get to the bottom of this.

I'm guessing that as you've already faced the "what if this is cancer" feeling so many times with previous cysts, that you'll have also thought about what would happen if you did get that news. So it does make sense that you aren't feeling overly worried about the scan and surgery this time.

You're welcome to come and post here whenever you feel the need to offload or to chat. I'm sure some of our other members here have found themselves in the same place of not knowing who to talk to things about. But don't feel that you're alone Charlotte. That's why we're here!

I hope that it won't be too long before you know more about what's happening with this cyst. If you do want to talk to one of our team of nurses at any point, you can call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
