In July 2014 myself, my brother and my sister sadly lost our mother to Ovarian Cancer.
Each year my sister puts on an event called BE.THE.CHANGE in the hope to raise money for this cause and each year she is successful in doing so. Due to her hard work and the amount of money raised, in July 2016 Ovarian cancer action and their research team at London Imperial College / Hammersmith hospital chose our mum to be placed on their tribute wall at the research centre. We were then invited to take a look at what goes on inside the lab and see how the money that was raised is used and it was absolutely incredible. Our money really does make a difference.
BE.THE.CHANGE is happening again and my sister brings out a video each year that goes viral, the first one having people lip sync to Beyoncé - grown woman. And I think what would be really special is if as part of the campaign to make people aware of Ovarian Cancer, we could interview people who’ve experienced it whether that be someone who’s beaten it, someone’s who’s lost a loved one from it or someone who’s currently experiencing what it’s like.
Even if it’s just an email, your story would be appreciated more than you know.
I’m currently a dance university student in Manchester and if there’s anyone in or around the area and wouldn’t mind meeting me and being a part of it I would love to hear from you.
All the best,
