Hope everyone has had a good day?

York was full! Had breakfast at Betty’s, Sandra will understand then commenced battle. Ordered a couple if things and we are going back to pick them up on 22 December. Got one present left to get and that’s a voucher for an eatery here so apart from two small choc bits for the santa sacks, yes, even at 21 and 24 they still have them, I’m done. Got some to wrap, need more paper as usual and cards to write but can do that at home, yea!!!

Felt shattered when we got back but pulling round now. Now where did I put the tv remote? Only me here tonight, one in London visiting friends and on staying at boyfriends so I have full control of what is on tv, hmmm, if I can just stay awake I might manage to enjoy it!

Enjoy the rest if the day ladies and take care!

Re: Onwards...

2 Dec 2017 19:09 in response to rileyroo

Eee bet it was chocca block in York bless it’s like someone has finally lit the touch paper of Christmas lol. But.... u have nearly cracked it  on the prezzy front yeahhh. Heck I’m expecting chocolate in my stocking too gotta b done Wink

I have never actually been t Betty’s (obviously need to it’s a rite of passage in York) I have Betty envy lol .

Been t the teepee today - actually enjoyed it lol .

Hows the rest of our crew doing @Jbains ‍  and @tigercub ‍ ?

Re: Onwards...

2 Dec 2017 19:45 in response to Sandra123

Got to go to Betty’s at least once in a lifetime!

The strange thing was the main problem appeared to be tall blokes. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m partial to a tall bloke but when they stop suddenly in the middle of the road and then turn themselves and the rest of their group around and plough back through the crowds, annoying didn’t cover it.

Been and dug out the christmas cards, trying to work up the enthusiasm to write them, failing miserably currently. Just me, stupid, aka the dog a cup of tea and Strictly, think I’ll keep it this way.

Hope @Jbains ‍ and @tigercub ‍ are both OK.

Re: Onwards...

2 Dec 2017 21:20 in response to rileyroo

I used t send over a hundred cards .... a hundred!?! Only send about 15 now:-). Everyone seems t do a fb status these days. Mind u I’m pleased lol always felt a chore. Lifting letterboxes quietly so they didn’t hear u nd want t chat cos u still had 99 t deliver ha ha- yup I owe FB lol

It’s most blokes in general bless cos they quite frankly would like t b anywhere other than shopping- the quick turns r probably them trying t escape lol.

You enjoy every min of your u time me dear. Own it and luxuriate in it cos there is always something or someone to come along and shatter the peace lol x

Hello ladies. Just came across this now.

Wow you guys are organised! I've got the big bday outta the way this weekend so can concentrate on xmas then.

Shopping centre on a sat in dec - you really are brave! Well done tho and hope you enjoyed the control of the remote. I relish the alone time as it seems to be quite rare these days.

Been busy cooking today as family coming to drop pressies off for daughter tomorrow. Am exhausted but can't go to sleep until she's back home safe and sound. She made me stay up late lastnight as wanted to open her pressies after midnight. They're cab is booked for 2:20am so I know am going to get fatigued as just cannot keep same pace as before.

Liking our new thread. Take it easy ladies and keep warm and well.

Hi yes I'm not too bad .bit of emotional time year this year obviously.my mum passed away February and her birthday Xmas day so am expecting to feel bit urrg.but hopefully getting dad out of his care home for Xmas lunch with us .cos we have only upstairs loo got commode from red cross .have done Xmas cards not really any Xmas shopping can't get any enthusiasm for that .but need be careful spending as sick pay from work will cease soon .

Re: Onwards...

3 Dec 2017 08:44 in response to tigercub

What a year you’ve had and not in a good way!

I don’t spend a lot on presents but try and find small, quirky things that suit the person I’m buying for. I’ve been lucky as far as sick pay goes, although I’ve

had two spells off neither of them have been very long so I’ve stayed on full pay luckily.

Good on yer having your dad round, although it means more work for you unless you have a well trained other half? Just be kind to yourself and maybe get some of the food ready prepped so all you have to do is cook it. It’s about celebrating what you have with those that matter not about the amount of food  and how fancy you can make it.

Don’t think we’ll be having xmas lunch on xmas day, both ‘kids’ are going out xmas eve and based on past bitter experience, there is not a lot of point, will do it either boxing day or maybe even the Saturday before.

Re: Onwards...

3 Dec 2017 09:17 in response to rileyroo

Hi yes I agree with your post .my other half does all cooking probably why my bloods good cooks from scratch no junk food always have done bit ironic as don't smoke or drink although bit overweight but get bowel n liver cancer .I am on full sick pay which is 28 weeks I think but I will be off lot longer than that  yes it's all about spending time with people you love .

Morning peeps

oh no jbains thought u knew we had moved t this thread:-( well let us know how last night went. Feel ya pain mind at 2:30 once home I’d b  face dropping on the bed full clothed t sleep lol. Tell em t help if u start t wain when the family land. U should enjoy too . Love ya daughter waited t open her pressies- makes me smile think of it Happy

tigercub girl I am in awe of what u do do so anything u haven’t is neither here nor there. Don’t dwell - everyone will b happy to spend time with u. We sometimes forget what the spirit of Christmas is about it’s doing what u r thinking of those we love - try to think of the good memories and smile that u have them:-)

rileyroo god I love the way you kickback nd just accept yr family as they r .. perfect parenting. No where is is it written we must have a huge meal on Xmas day it’s xmas dinner regardless of what we eat.

Ive said before we don’t have turkey cos we have had so many Xmas meals in the lead up we r sick t the back teeth of it lol. Xmas dinner is whatever u eat at dinner time on Xmas day end of lol x

Re: Onwards...

So true. There seem to be too many expectations for xmas these days. I usually get the food on 23rd or early morning 24th. This year just the 4 of us and that's how I like it. My son flies back so can't wait to see him. They all got back safe and sound and paying for it all now - head and very aching body. Nevermind - just cant keep pace as before!

Re: Onwards...

3 Dec 2017 20:02 in response to Jbains

Well that’s the Christmas trees up, dog has confused himself senseless and crashed out on the couch!

I’ve done the soup for boxing day, now in the freezer, tick.

I wrote my Christmas cards last night, seem to be fewer each year as age and illness diminishes the number of friends and family still here and on that sombre note I’m going to get my stuff ready for tomorrow.

Looks like quite a decent day weather wise, shame I won’t see a lot of it! Take care ladies!

Wow I'm impressed! I looked at the xmas cards today and left it at that! Daughter's bday over now so will start on xmas stuff now. Got my induction and registering tomorrow morning for volunteering at hospital. Not straightforward - have to get DBS check first! Yes weather seems ok. Am very tired out so enjoy reat of evening ladies.

You’ll enjoy getting back into the swing of life again. Dbs checks should come thro pretty quickly this time of year, mine took about 2 weeks and that was this time of year altho a few years ago now, time flies!

Hope your daughter’s birthday was enjoyed by all including you!
