Oesophageal cancer -4cycles of chemo done-

Don't know what I'm wanting really - info I suppose

Husband aged 56 Stage 2 T2, N0, M 0 diagnosed July 29th.

just completed 4 cycles of pre op FLOT. Considering how nuclear it is he has done extremely well.

His symptoms (occasional food clogging) completely disappeared after the 2 nd cycle, so much so he ate, wolfed down, a bacon and sausage bap .

what I would like info on is -:

Is this a usual response? Good/bad/predictable?
if that is a good response, why is surgery still necessary( Review PET in 2 weeks)

I heard (as you do) that FLOT only 'stuns' the tumour, not kill it- what is the case?

Any info gratefully received- ta

  • I'm really glad your husband's symptoms disappeared after his second cycle. It must have been nice for the both of you to see him eating normally again.

Hopefully you'll get some feedback from our members who are in a similar position to your husband soon but some of your questions may be better answered by one of our cancer nurses so if you'd like to discuss this with them you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040. Their phone lines are open Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

I hope all goes well with the review in 2 weeks time.

    Kind regards,
