Mum has grade IV unmethylated glioblastoma, I'm at uni

My family and i moved house 2 months ago and shortly after i left for univeristy to start my second year. One week into uni we found out that my mum has grade IV unmethylated glioblastoma. I was devasted and developed insomnia which i am now treating with medication. I know she doesn't have long left, and my dad has asked me to decide to either live at home for my third and final year (begins Oct 2021) or live at uni. I will have lots of work and will struggle to complete work from home if i choose to live there.

I am asking for any advice on how to make this decision.

Many thanks

  • Hello Oliver2413

I'm sorry to hear about your Mum's diagnosis. I'm sure it will have been a shock to you all and understandably it's a difficult time.

Only you can decide what may be best for you during your last year of University although I can imagine it's difficult to make decisions about something that is still a year away yet.

I'd encourage you to talk to your family and also maybe speak to your course leader or pastoral support at University about your options. I'm sure that there would be support available to you at University to help make the right decision for you.

    Best wishes,
