my dad is having chemo at the moment but just been told he has mrsa . Please can anyone tell me dose this mean they will stop his treatment ? Fingers cross they don’t but I need to know

Thanks for contacting us, sorry you are going through this with your dad.

Its very difficult for me to comment on your dads case as I'm not the specialist in charge of his care.

MRSA is a bacterial infection not unusual in those with a compromised immune system like in your dads case.

As to whether they will postpone his chemo, it probably depends on his health overall. For the chemotherapy to do its job it is important that your dad is well enough to deal with all of its effects.

I think it would be good for you to contact his specialist consultant, maybe via his Clinical Nurse Specialist (cns) that he has been assigned.
