Lymphoma symptoms

18 May 2019 13:35

Hi to anyone reading this,

Im not usually one to google my symptoms for obvious reason but at this point im a little desperate to see if anyone is or has been in a similar situation.

I had a baby in January and have had vaginal bleeding since then (so for 17 weeeks now) I have had some retained placenta products removed about week 9 due to constant infection and swollen inguinal lymph nodes. However since the operation I have continued to have vaginal bleeding and lumps on my inguinal lyph nodes. A few nights a week I will have night sweats but this isnt consistently every night. I have had blood tests, swabs and a scan and they have all come back clear. However I have had 8 lots of antibiotics in 17 weeks and have been taking them for 10 out of 17 weeks.

I have just started another 2 weeks of antibiotics due to the lump appearing on my lymph node again for the 4th time in 17 weeks but it doesnt seem to be going down now, so my doctor has now referred me to a gyneachologist, all that seems to appear from my symptoms when i google them and research is Lymphoma and Im trying to find any different disagnosis.

Has anyone experienced the same symptoms etc to myself? Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you

Hello and thanks for posting on the forum,

I am sorry to hear about all your different symptoms.  It must be particularly hard as you are also a new mother with a very young baby.

As nurses we can't diagnose why you are getting all these different symptoms. Sometimes trying to diagnose what all the symptoms mean is not always straightforward.  The doctors do sound like they are investigating you thoroughly with blood tests and scans. Many women worry that the symptoms that they have can be caused by cancer.  There can be many different reasons and most of them don't mean that there is cancer.

I hope that when you have seen the gynaecologist they will be able to get to the bottom as to why you are continuing to bleed.  Do keep away from google.  This is because it is very general and you would be unable to diagnose yourself.

Try not to worry too much.  If you would like to give us a ring to talk any of this through then please do so.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

Best Wishes,

Catherine
