  • Hello James_T,

A warm welcome to our forum! It's great to hear from a leukaemia survivor. You were so young to have to go through all this and I am sorry to hear that your liver is scarred as a result of your chemotherapy treatment. What a shame too that this liver scarring has affected your ability to fly. I hope that despite all this, you are doing ok 20 years on after diagnosis. It's sad that you have been affected by this on a social level and I hope that you will hear from others on the forum who have experienced similar effects after treatment for leukaemia or any other childhood cancer. So that they spot your post more easily, I have slightly edited its title to make it more specific and attract more replies from others in similar situations.

I've also had a little look around the forum for you and I have found a couple of threads which you might want to have a look at and respond to if you wish. [@anonoymous123]‍ who is also a leukaemia survivor started this thread a few years ago and was looking to reach out to others who were also suffering late effects from childhood cancer. More recently, [@Melly1212]‍ started this discussion on the late effects of chemotherapy for childhood cancers.

I hope it is comforting for you to know that you are not alone and that you will find others here to chat to about all this.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi, I got mentioned so I thought I would comment ,I've not personally gone through this effect but I am a childhood cancer survivor and I can relate to not being able to find anyone in the same position as you , I feel that quite a bit and I can understand how difficult that can be.

You're welcome to inbox me if you want to. I may be able to relate to some of your struggles even if I have not had the exact same situation. Sometimes it just helps to talk to someone with a similar expreince as it can be difficult to find someone with the exact same situation.

When things have calmed down with the virus maybe you could look at joining some sort of support group?, Im not sure if there is one for childhood cancer survivors but even if you go to a adult cancer group you may find someone who's had the same effects. sorry I couldn't be more helpful. I hope you are feeling a bit better about things since your post.
