Large lump increasing in size

I wonder if anyone has similar symptoms to myself ?
I have constant pain a feeling like my skin is ripping underneath going from my lower rib on right side under breast and spreading around the back which is oval shaped.
I think is also pressing on a nerve due to pain also travelling down to my right buttocks and right heel.
I had a ultrasound back in February and they found a lump measuring 3cm by 2cm and was not concerned.

But 4 weeks ago the pain was so unbearable and I'm taking 45mg codine 300mg Gabapentin plus top up of ibuprofen and paracetamol that the GP examined the lump and sent me back for another ultrasound and the lump is now 10cm by 7cm, and I've been referred as urgent 2 week pathway for cancer specialist to check what's going on, but due to the pandemic my urgent appointment is last week in may so I'm 8 weeks waiting to find out what's going on and a nervous reck in constant pain :(

  • Welcome to the forum happynadlucky although I'm sorry about your lump. It sounds like it's been very tough to live with.

I'm sorry the pandemic has delayed your referral until the end of May; it must be very frustrating, especially when you're in so much pain. I'm not sure if you've done this already, but if you let them know you're happy to take any cancellations that pop up you may be seen sooner.

Hopefully you'll receive some support from our members who have been in a similar situation soon but in the meantime, we're thinking of you and will have our fingers crossed the lump is not sinister.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Happyandlucky,

I am sorrry to hear about the increase in size of this lump. Try not to panic. Not all lumps are cancerous. Many are benign cysts or fibroadenoma. When they weren't concerned previously, I assume that this was the case with you. Sometimes these lumps become so big that they have to be removed, even though they are still benign. It is also a fact that pain seldom accompanies breast cancer, so I sincerely hope that all turns out well for you.

I can understand your frustration at this additional wait and agree with our Moderator Steph. It is always worth letting the clinic know that you are willing to take any cancellation that comes along.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are alwaws here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
