Join our Unity Thread for World Cancer Day

This Saturday, 4th February, is World Cancer Day, a day where everyone who has been affected by cancer comes together in a show of unity.

To mark this day on Cancer Chat we’d like to invite you to create one big unity thread with us. Either tell us who you are uniting for by replying to this thread with the name of the person you are uniting for, or you could even upload a sign or a photo as I have done. Don’t forget to add the hashtag #ActofUnity to your post.

Feel free to post an Act of Unity for as many people as you choose.

I’ll be the first to share my picture and this is for Maria, the daughter of one of my friends. Maria is a very brave, funny and amazing little girl of two who has leukemia and is now waiting for a bone marrow transplant.

#ActofUnity

We look forward to weaving this thread Unity Thread with you.

  • I would like to share my act of unity with everyone on the forum, of course, but personally in remembrance of my late mother and brother.

Also for my sister-in-law Lyn, and my friend Carol who has just been diagnosed with lung ca after battling with another ca a few years ago and is awaiting news of her treatment.

I am currently trying to find a shop that hasn't sold out of the Unity Bands, will try again tomorrow!

Thanks for starting this thread, Renata, my best wishes to all the Mods and staff at CC.

  • My turn to join the Unity Thread!

I am uniting tonight with my aunt who sadly passed away on the 28th of July 2016 at the age of 77. She was diagnosed just a year earlier with an astrocytoma brain tumour.

I am also uniting with all the people who have touched me through the years on this forum and who have, in one way or another, been affected by cancer. You are all truly special and we have not only weaved forum threads together but also deep and meaningful connections.

  • Thinking of everyone on Cancer Chat on World Cancer Day. I'm remembering all my loved ones who are no longer with us and celebrating those who have come through and given us all hope.

We are all united in our wish to beat cancer sooner #ActofUnity

This one is for my dad who is being treated for prostate cancer.

  • Hi folks,

I would like to share this in memory of my ten family members that cancer took before their time and other lovely people that used to be on here like Max and Meerkat who fought cancer so bravely while still helping others, Brian.

  • Today on World Cancer Day my thoughts are with everyone here on the forum, past and present, that have been, and continue to be, affected by cancer.

I am honoured to be a part of this lovely community and reading about your acts of kindness, strength and bravery in the face of adversity continue to inspire me everyday.
