Hello redfeed and welcome.  I have read all three of your posts - thank you - but am not sure that this one comes under the remit of this website.  I would either look at the subject on Which or alternatively look at one of the comparison websites which deal with private medical insurance.  (I am assuming it is medical insurance that you are seeking as opposed to wanting to insure your car or some such!)  All the best.  Annie

Thanks for the response, I am sorry that I did not make my self clear. I was looking for travel insurance to go to Spain while I can and I would have thought that this was relevent to many people with cancer which is why I asked the question. The comparison sites still offer no reasonable prices, some as high as £1000 for a single trip. Once again thank you.

That is okay redfeed.  We all do it, that is think we have expressed ourselves clearly only to find that it is not always the case.  Again, not sure that this is the right place to get the best information but hang on in there.  Cheers.

Hi Redfeed,  There is plenty on this site about travel insurance -  just search for it at the top of the page.

I found Eurotunnel very reasonable - they need very little medical information and are very very reasonable as long as you are not currently undergoing treatment and have not been diagnosed as terminal ( incurable was OK!!)  I went to Croatia for a week last year for £25.  Tho I don't know what they are like if you have to claim.

Good luck

Tosyn

Hello and welcome to the forum, redfeed.

Travel insurance is certainly a topic that comes up here often, for exactly the reasons you mention.

With that in mind, I thought I'd include links to the information we've got on the site about Travelling with cancer and, more specifically, Getting travel insurance. That section in particular includes a list of specialist travel insurance companies

I hope that's helpful, and I do hope you get to go on your trip to Spain. Let us know!

With best wishes,

Hi redfeed. I am currently trying to find travel insurance information for my husband (lung cancer) and I have just found this list of insurers in an online Telegraph article http://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/advice/Travel-advice-travel-insurance-... Hope you find this helpful. I plan to phone around a few tomorrow. (I think Annieliz may be on the wrong forum and doesn't know!)

Thanks for the info, I rang a few of them and a couple want 2 to 3 weeks before travelling and want access to medical records. So they would not give a price without this info.

Oh that's a shame. Thanks for letting me know. For myself I really just wanted a very rough idea of the cost to know whether planning a week away might be a possibility as I really don't know if insurance will be in the hundreds or even more. I do not want to look for a holiday and then find out the insurance is way too much.

Hi Annie,

I hate to disagree with Annieliz - of course this comes under the remit of this website, as it affects all of us if we want to travel. The sites that Helen mentioned are worth a look, although I couldn’t find anyone to accept me on these sites.

My husband and I both have a long list of medical problems. We found that Stay Sure was a huge improvement in comparison to other companies, which charged thousands. We have been with them for about 4 years when they transferred us to All Clear which is still reasonable.

We take out an annual policy as we go abroad approx. 3 times a year. At present we pay £400 for an annual policy for both of us. This works out at £66.67 each per trip. This is not as cheap as Tosyn’s. £25.00, but we were happy with it. The annual cost is less than other companies were quoting for a single trip (under a third of the price).

Please let us know who you eventually find to cover you. I hope that you get away to Spain and  enjoy your holiday there.

Kind regards,

Jolamine xx
