Together we will beat cancer

I had a hysteroscopy and 3 biopsies today. The doctor reassured me that my uterus looked healthy and that there is no established cancer. He has advised that I have a mirena fitted and my implant removed. Does hysteroscopy rule out early cancer without the biopsy results or could it still be picked up on biopsy?

Hello and thanks for posting on the forum,

I am sorry to hear that you are going through investigations.

It sounds like the doctor feels that your uterus looks healthy but your doctor is confirming this by taking some biopsies to make sure.  As  we are a nurse led service and don't have details of what led you to have a hysteroscopy in the first place it is difficult to say for sure.  It is however quite normal to have biopsies taken during a procedure.

I hope that this has been helpful. Please get back to us if you need any more information or support.  You may find it helpful to talk things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

Best Wishes,
