How can i help her cope with this

Hi my mum is an active working 68 years young woman who was told 2 months ago that she had stage 4 lung cancer that has spread to glands and bones throughout her body so no treatment will help.Every day she seems to be going down hill pain is becomming hard to cope with she now has so many pills to take to keep the pain under control.The hardest part is the way its affected her state of mind,she has always been a strong woman the family back bone now all she does is cry its so hard to know what to do to help her.Any one have any idea how i can try and lift her spirits its so sad to see the change .Any advice would be greatfully recieved thanks 

  • Hi Joanne, both you and your mom sound like such strong women, I admire you both and as for keeping her mind off things  how about simple things like afternoon tea or maybe a walk through the park, just simple quality time will please her I’m sure. Think of what she likes to do, maybe a trip to a garden centre or a day out shopping, the littlest things are often the best

    Is there any Cancer Centre near you? They really are amazing. It would offer potential support for both of you. I also agree with Daisy's post. Also, having good chats with your mum may give her some peace of mind.  Maybe checking with Dr if there is any stronger medication to prevent your mother's pain. Take care & best wishes to you both.
