HOLIDAY CANCELLATION OR NOT ?

Holiday/late honeymoon booked in March 2018, paid for totally 4/6/2018. Diagnosed with breast cancer in 5/6/2018,

Ive had surgery, (Lumpectomy & node removal) and all was going well & looking good for the holiday. Now been told i need more surgery and this will happen this week. im due to fly to Cyprus 12 days after surgery. My consultant has said that i will be ok to fly but will need an injection and DVT stockings. i would have been happy to go away if this second surgery wasnt needed and am now feeling really anxious about it. my travel insurance is all valid as i wasnt diagnosed til after the holiday was booked but if my consultant says i can go does that mean i have to go ? or will my insurance only pay out if my consultant says no ?

any advice gratefully received.

  •  I cancelled our holiday when my little boy was diagnosed with kidney cancer recently and had to have surgery/chemo.  My insurance company wanted a letter from the consultant, even though we could  have gone as it was before treatment started we felt it would be too stressful so the consultant happily wrote a letter for us to send to our insurance company.  If you tell the consultant though that you feel uncomfortable going they will do you a letter I  am sure.

Good luck with everything and I hope your surgery goes well xx

  • Thank you for your reply, I will speak with my surgeon at my post op 2 days before the holiday.

I hope your little boy is responding to treatment and wish you all the very best. X
