Holiday advice

Hi hoping someone can help me with some advice  I have finished my chemo and was  given the all clear last week me and my partner fancy a holiday abroad some sun n chill time  n no mention of the c word I'm still on avastin every 3 weeks until November and also taking tamoxifen I forgot to ask my doctor if it's ok to go abroad thanks in advance

  • Hi there,

Sounds like your partner has the right idea!  Things to consider. Sort out some holiday insurance first - it is available but may be a bit more expensive than usual. Check out that none your treatments have  made you unduly sun sensitive - and take a nice hat and good sun cream anyway.. Then seize the moment and go and make some new memories. It is so hard not to let the battle with Big C define your whole life but so important to make every day count - regardless of whether one has 20 days or 20 years ahead........

If you were given an all clear that is even more reason to celebrate.

    Best wishes

  • Hi

Hope you get that well deserved hols.  When my friend was in a similar situation (few years ago now) she was on tamoxifen and went abroad several times, including the States, Egypt and Greece (wish I knew who she insured with then, but know it was rather expensive and you have to make sure you give them all the facts so you are covered).  sueps has given great advice she sun cream/hats and always make sure you have enough medication to cover both the trip and maybe a bit extra in case of delays and sometimes worth having a letter to carry from your GP giving your current medical situation in case you need treatment whilst away (after all we can all get unrelated cancer illnesses too).

Where-ever you go have a great time.  Jules x
