Has anyone had benign calcifications

Hi there.  I'm waiting for a biopsy this week as a mammogram last week showed up calcifications.  I've had 3 fluid filled cysts drained too over the last few years which thankfully weren't worrying, but I'd never heard of calcifications before now.  Ive had a good look round on here and it seems that a lot of people have bad news after calcifications are found which is so worrying.  Has anyone else had experience of this and has ANYONE had biopsies that showed their calcifications were benign?  Mine have been classed as indeterminate and I'm really worried.  After 2 mammograms on the same day they said I needed further assessment.  The worry is terrible and despite a good start, I'm not coping very well now.  Thanks x

  • I had a routine mammogram at the end of November. I was recalled on the 6th December for biopsies. Calcifications in the left breast and a lump in the right. The diagnosis on the calcifications was benign but unfortunately I have breast cancer in the right breast, invasive triple positive hormone (HER2). I have had my first chemotherapy last week. Hope you get goood news x

  • Hi mollymoo10

Thanks for replying, it does seem to help reading about others' experiences.  We're all just ticking along and then hit with all this worry.  I've never had much peace of mind with my mammograms as they've recalled me every time!  So far I've just had fluid filled cysts and this is my first biopsy which is tomorrow morning so the wait for results will continue.  I'm starting to feel that my boobs are a ticking time bomb!  I'm so sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with breast cancer and they found a lump.  I hope everything goes well and the chemotherapy isn't too debilitating for you.
Thanks again for taking the time to reply to me in what must be a difficult time for you.

    xx

  • Hi Marywj

i really hope that your biopsy goes well this morning. I find the wait between biopsy and diagnosis the worst wait. Myself and two of my close friends were all diagnosed with 6 weeks of each other from routine mammograms with no other symptoms. I truly hope you have a better result. Fingers crossed you'll be one of the lucky ones xx

  • Thankyou mollymoo,

sorry to hear what you and your friends are going through.  I haven't told friends or family (only my husband) until I know what this biopsy flags up, so it's quite a lonely and worrying wait.  If I'm honest I'm not really very positive for a good outcome.  There it is then, lots of you have been through this too and it does help me to read what others have been through and how they coped.

Thanks again and wishing you all the best x

  • Hi I am triple positive can I ask how your treatment is going please. Best wishes x

  • Hi

I have just had my second chemotherapy yesterday. I've got one more of this combination then have another set for the remaining 3 sessions.  I have gone through the menopause so can have another treatment over three years (every 6 months. In the main I'm ok but the effects will kick in soon. I already have the metallic taste, I've been sick but it's the exhaustion and back spasms that bother me. My finger nails are starting to become black at the base too.  To be honest I just want to do whatever it takes to get rid of this. How are you coping?

    take care xx
