Grandmothers diagnosed

Hello,

I’m 26 yo mother to a 2yo.

My 91 yo grandmother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, she’s just had her third round of chemo and I’m terrified of the side effects. She’s on a low dosage (whatever that means) but I’m still worried about hair loss, nail damage etc, she’s a very proud lady and takes care of herself very well. I just don’t know what to expect

  • Hi there.  I have no experience of ovarian cancer but just wanted to say God bless your grandmother, smart lady as she obviously is.  I am sorry that you have been left in a position where you don't know what to expect.  Has your grandmother given permission for her illness to be discussed with next of kin, do you know?  When does she next see the doctor - can you go with her and ask her to give permission if this has not happened?  I don't know how much you are already talking to your gran (excuse the abbreviation) about this and how much she knows herself - she may be worrying about the same issues so it is important that you find out at her next appointment.  Sorry I cannot give detailed information but others more knowledgeable should be able to do so.  Best wishes.

  • Hi Bo,

I saw you were worried about the side effects your grandmother may experience whilst having chemo so I have included some information we have about this on our website for you to have a look at.

I hope this helps and I wish your grandmother all the best for the rest of her treatment.

    Best wishes to you both,
