Good but puzzling news.

23 Aug 2019 17:32

I’m awaiting the histology results but an endoscopy today showed a normal-looking oesophagus, stomach and duodenum.

The endoscopy nurse said that if it wasn’t for my medical notes they would’t have realised I was a cancer patient. Another nurse double-checked my name, address and date of birth because the notes said I’d been referred for palliative chemo in 2013 and she thought she’d been given the wrong patient records.

Something very strange has happened to me.

I don’t believe in miracles but I feel so very very lucky.

Best wishes

Dave

Hi Dave,

Just wanted to pop along and say what fantastic news. I remember when you joined the forum 6 years ago - your post today has put a big smile on my face and I know the other mods will be just as pleased.

What ever it is that you're doing Dave - keep doing it! Wink

Thanks to everyone for their lovely messages.

I wasn’t sure whether to post or not as I know how bleak life can feel if you’re recently diagnosed or bereaved and you read about someone else’s good news.

It will take a while before my mind fully accepts this as being real - sort of a denial in reverse.

Thanks again

Dave

Hey Dave,

I can only echo what Jenn said and give you the very same advice. Whatever it is you're doing Dave it seems to be working really well!

What amazing news. Incredible really. And you were right to post about it - we all love good news here.

You've also made my day Happy we are so lucky too to have you on this forum.

We'll be curious to find out more about these histology results. How funny too that the nurse thought she'd be given the wrong patient records I think you've puzzled everyone Wink

Oh Dave...

If no one posted good news everyone would think nothing positive can happen ... we need the good story as much if not more then others ...

People given terminal diagnosis can look at how you've grabbed life and ran with it ... now they can see your story and our lovely Billy not giving in to that crule cancer ... the more we look it in the eye , the cancer will know it's got more of a fight on its hands then ever ...

Sending you a little hand shake .....  Chrissie  ; ))

Thanks again.

The histology results are due back at the end of September. I’ll also hear the outcome of an MDT meeting where my six-monthly CT scans and endoscopy photos will be compared in sequence to track the changes from my first pre-diagnosis scan to last week’s.

It was strange to watch the screen and seeing for myself how the lining of my gullet had changed since the first time when the primary and the oesophagitis were obvious even to my untrained eye.

I guess seeing helps believing!

Thanks again everyone!

Thats excellent. My husband has esophageal cancer too. He has had 3 EOX chemo so far. He has a scan next week to see how things are going. Can I ask if you used any other unconventional treatements other than what are offered by your oncologist?

Thanks,

Nicki
