Hi There,

A message from a daughter watching her dad struggle with AML.

My dad was diagnosed in March 2019 with AML with Complex Karyotype and TP53 Mutation..

Unfortunately Chemo has not worked nor has a clinical trial. We as a family do not want to give up and are hoping that there are still further treatments that my dad can try. We are happy to travel anywhere if needs be.

Is there anyone that can help?

Thank you in advance.

Hello and thanks for your post

I am so sorry to hear about your dad's situation and can appreciate why you are looking at all avenues. It must be a really hard time for you all.

We might be able to help you more if you give our helpline a call, as it's a bit difficult without having any more details about what sort of trial your dad has already been part of.

I'm sure you may well have already discussed further trials with the specialist and possibly also a second opinion at another hospital which is very common.

If you haven't already looked at our website on research and trials into AML , you may want to have a look at the link here.

There are usually very strict entry requirements for trials and you do need to be in good general health. If any of these trials look like they may be suitable it would be best to print off the page and show the specialist to see if your dad would be eligible. We are  not part of the recruitment process and we cannot arrange for patients to join a trial.

Do give us a call here on the helpline if you would like to go over anything. The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

All the best to you and your family
