Feeling down

I'm in remission from lymphoma but I am still worried

  • It is okay to be worried, you've been through a lot already I'm sure.  Are there any support groups you can attend?  Maybe consider talking to a counselor just to get the worries off your chest.  Best wishes to you and congratulations on the remission.

  • thank you I'll try and find a group
  • Hi DITT You are not alone in feeling this way. I have been in remission for over 3 years and still have moments of "has it come back" especially just before my checkup. You have to get on with your life and accept that these worries will surface now and again. Cancer changes you but its up to you to make sure its for the better so that the cancer does not win. Be good to yourself and try to manage your worries not let them take over. We are still here and have a life worth living. River
  • you are so right river56 I have only just gone in to remission I've had a long year and I know the doctors are right and I'm OK but I just panic at  every little pain but thank you for taking the time to get in touch with me happy new year

  • Hi Ditt,

Welcome to the club - I'm in partial remission and every lump, bump, cough, ache or pain seems to scream "IT'S BACK!"

I think its called "watchful waiting" but it can sometimes feel like paranoia.

I realise none of this will help practically, but at least you know that your feelings are pretty normal.

How we live with this is down to us as individuals - we all work out coping mechanisms in the end - but don't hesitate to talk to your GP about your uderstandable anxiety. Mine has prescribed a mild anti-anxiety medication which helps me sleep at night.

    Best wishes
    Dave
