Extremely worried

I had my second biopsy on Wednesday I know the procedures and and what sort of pain to expect so during the second biopsy every time the needle extracted samples I was getting a shock sensation going into my breast I told nurse and she gave me more anaesthetic however I still was getting this sharp shock feeling every 4to6 seconds as said I was asked if I would like the procedure to stop but I only had 6 more rounds to go so I told them to continue why I was still feeling any sort of discomfort anyway this time they managed to insert the marker hooray

Within an hour of leaving hospital and coming home  took my coat off and my top was soaking wet with blood I almost fainted when I saw the amount that was there i called the Hospital and was told to come in immediately after 4hrs plus awaiting I was finally seen by a doctor who then could not find my notes for the previous day regarding the biopsy I explained what feeling I was having during the biopsy explaining the pain 0f an electric shock I questioned the fact maybe they could caught a vein accidentally was clearly told that that was not possible as the biopsy is done under an MRI I and it would have been been visible anyway after all the waiting I literally spent 10 minutes with the doctor who had a very quick discussion and change the dressing luckily the bleeding stopped however today de-ai have a massive lump under the breast skin which I know is normal prior the first biopsy however even if I slightly touch the area i get a very bad burning feeling around the incision area and nipple and the area gets hot the second I touch it gently and as soon as I remove my hand and it goes away.

Please can anyone let me know what could possibly causing this feeling even if I brush my arm slightly against the nipple I get the same feeling of burning and when I touch it it's extremely hot and also have a tingling sensation every now and then ️

Please please please can I have some answers as soon as possible

THANK YOU

  • Hello Linda1w

I'm sorry to hear that you've had such problems since your biopsies on Wednesday. It's understandable that you're feeling worried.

I wanted to reply as our team of nurses don't work weekends so you won't get a response from them until tomorrow at the earliest.

If your breast is feeling hot to touch and painful, please do get in touch with 111 for some advice. they should be able to arrange for you to see a Dr to make sure that there's no infection or any other problem that needs prompt attention.

I do hope that things settle for you soon.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi and thanks for posting

It sounds like you had a bad time with the biopsy and I can appreciate you may be concerned about what you are now feeling.

However, I really don't think it may be possible for anyone here to be able to say what may have caused this. People respond in many different ways to biopsies and even though you were ok with the first one, it doesn't necessarily follow that you will have the same response next time.

You could try calling the breast clinic to see if they have heard of this happening before and for any further advice. It is possible the biopsy may have touched a nerve , and has made the area very sensitive, even though it was done under MRI guidance.

Hopefully, the swelling or pool of blood under the skin(haematoma) will soon start to settle, although this can take some time. If it continues to be bothersome, do get back to the GP so they can keep an eye on it and to make sure it's not getting worse.

Hopefully you will soon get your results - it might also then be the time to talk this over with the specialist if you have a telephone conversation or a face to face appointment.

I hope things will soon start to ease up for you

    All the best

  • I have tried calling the the best clinic three times two occasions they did not answer the third occasion I gave my details told me someone will call me back this was at 2:50 no one called me back I fell asleep when I woke up it was 5 but still no calls

My worry is now the bleeding has stopped from the incision I had blood coming out of my nipple which is fresh blood only when I put pressure however when I touch the area of the breast where the incision and biopsy took place I get a shock feeling then a sensation of extreme heat around that area and my nipple especially if I touch it it or accidentally move my arm ma and hit my breasts gently

It's very strange because you can also feel the heat coming out of the breast and nipple but only when that area is touched the warm sensation travels down to my arm and then stops within seconds but will start again the second it gets touched

I'm also getting sharp stabbing pains under the breast every now and then I'm not sure if it is to do with the breast or heart

And may I ask I know this might sound stupid but I be allergic to the titanium clip

The reason why I'm saying this is because last summer I was assaulted and had surgery on my jaw it was held together with a titanium plate a week after the surgery I had so many issues they also thought that I had osteomyelitis in my jaw they took more MRI   realise the screws has come loose , tissue and mouth resembled allergy signs of titanium.it  was removed everything seems to have settled down it was mentioned there could be a small possibility that I'm allergic to Titanium so I was wondering if this could be why I'm getting the burning feeling I don't know.

I am having a MRI on my jaw on Thursday due to my nerves this has nothing to do with my breast however if there is an infection could this affect the breast???

I apologise for all of this but I'm just trying to find answers nothing seems to go go straight forward with me.

Thank you very much for your reply

  • Hello and thanks for your further post,

I am sorry to hear that you are anxious about this at the moment.

Unfortunately, we can't really speculate or guess what this might be. Do persevere with contacting the breast clinic. You could also seek the advice of your GP in the meantime. You need a doctor to assess you.

I am sorry that we cannot be of more help, and hope that this resolves for you soon.

    Wishing you the best,

    Vanda
