Eating

i have had seven doses of eox chemotherapy was 9stone 6 to start. Have put on 2 stone by eating anything but wondered if I should look at what I am eating. Doctors and chemo nurses say carry on eating most important to keep weight just really asking anyone had issues with too much junk sugary foods in any way. Don't get me wrong. I am really happy the way things are going as I have stage 4 in the stomach lining and before chemo could not eat too much and now eat like a pig.

    Hi,

I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I am not a medic, but the fact that you can eat anything following chemo sounds like good news to me. Most people seem to have the opposite problem. Have you discussed this with your doctor and care team? They can give you the right advice.

I put on a lot of weirght due to medication after I was diagnosed. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 7 years. Initially, I was feeling so low, that I couldn't care less whether or not my weight was going up or down. I had both knees replaced 3 years ago and decided that it was time to address my weight after that.  I have lost 5 stones so far and feel so much better for doing that.

If you want to talk to someone with medical kowledge, why not phone the nurses on this forum and have a chat? Their number is 0808 800 4040 and it is free to phone them from a UK landline.

Please let us know how you get on. There is always someone here for you if you feel you need support.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Jomaline thanks for your reply. I am sorry but I have maybe made out that I am not happy with how things are going. To the contrary I am very happy as is my doctor. I was just meaning that now I am back to a realistic weight I don't. Want to cause a problem by eating the wrong things. My doctor and nurses have told me to carry on eating as because the cancer tends to use the fat and energy in the body we need to replace it so I will carry on as I am ..I do hope things go well with you so take care. Hi Eddie,

I fear that I misinterpreted your first post. This is easier to deal with. I am glad to hear that both you and your doctor are happy with the way things are progressing and hope that you continue along this path. Sensible eating is always a good idea and try to keep your sugar intake to a minimum.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
