Together we will beat cancer

Denosumab (Xgeva)

3 Feb 2014 00:50

I saw the oncologist a couple of weeks ago and because there are bone mets she has lined up an MRI.  This apparently will show whether spot radiotherapy will be required.  However, she also said that I should have injections of denosumab alongside the chemo, and then these will continue for good in order to strengthen the bone.  Has anyone had experiences of being on denosumab?  Whilst I accept it reduces the risk of serious bone fractures etc it is reported that fatigue occurs in 45% of those on it, and it appears there are numerous other side effects.  I am thinking of deferring being on this regime for the time being, at least till I know how serious the bone mets are.  Wondered also about alternatives including whether, with some patience, weight-bearing exercise can do enough.
