CT Scan today

Hi very nervous today went for my CT scan and had a lovely nurse but she had trouble getting the flow needle into my elbow vein so she tried back of my hand that never worked either as when it was attached to the dye machine it was very sore and so I had to go back to the prep room and the senior nurse put it in my other hand and bingo . The dye I did not mind as it was a cold feeling then warmed up my arm, chest, and bladder then I had it again. The scan itself was not to long about 40 mins and now I got to wait for the results and specialist chat. I was reading about my work and going sick to do my treatment and recovery but it is an absolute nightmare to see what financial help you can get especially in these hard times, it seems unless you are on your last legs your don't get much help and if you can breathe and move your arms your grand, been working since 17 and now 61 .

  • Best of luck with your scan

i am waiting to have my 3rd and please final scan on the next 30 days so

  • Hi GUSXB can I ask if it is OK what type of cancer you have please?

  • Hello its Non Hodgkin Follicular Lymphoma

  • Hello,I'm new on here even though I have just finished my 6 rounds of R chop Chemo.

I found the waiting around trying to find out exactly what I had,THE worst time. I'm waiting for my PET scan now to see if the large lymphoma that was in my thigh has gone.
How are you getting on now?

    Wishing you best of luck,Tory

  • Hi tory I know what you mean when all this dreadful times started it seemed like for ever to get scans and results but I do have to say the cancer unit I attend have been brilliant and treat me very well. I have had my first chemo and 3 radiotherapy and got another 27 radiotherapy and one more chemo to go. I found the chemo session not to bad but the after affects were horrible stumoch pains, not being able to eat a lot, feeling as if I wanted to bring things back up even drinking was not good water was OK in small sips but did manage to keep a hot chocolate down which surprised me but hey at this stage anything which stays is good. I have tonsil cancer in which they removed the tonsil and my nodes in my throat they also had to remove my lower teeth as not strong enough to go through the chemo but hey hoping to get new ones at the end lol.

  • Oh gosh, it sounds like you had it rough with chemo. I don't know if I need radiotherapy yet,my lymphoma was at stage 4 and filled 80% of my thigh, and it ate my femur, greedy devil,so I'm preparing myself for it.
I agree, once I WAS finally diagnosed,my cancer treatment was amazing. I only had one bad episode where I was sick for 12 hours solid but I still blame my husbands BBQ'ing. I was supposed to lose all my hair by round 3,I finished round 6 a month ago and it has only now decided it can't cope and is fleeing faster than rats on a sinking ship.I feel very lucky compared to some though.Apart from me limping because my leg snapped and I had a gamma nail fitted,I can't say my life has been too impeded.
I do crave normality though. Life before cancer, when I could walk miles with my dogs. It'll come back, poor dogs probably don't want it back.

I hope your treatment treats you kindly.Ihave to say I enjoyed going to my chemo sessions because of the people I met and it's the longest I ever sat down for.Just to hear other people's stories, even the nurses,it helps.I love to make people laugh and if I think I have made someone's day a bit better, that cheers me up too.The best of luck to you.xx
