Concerned about ovarian cancer

13 Oct 2017 02:17

Hi Everyone,

I'm a new member on the forum. I'm worried about some of the symptoms I've been having the last 2 months and from what I've been reading online. I'm 30 y.o. (never pregnant) and my periods use to be normal. I would get them the day I was suppose to and never had any major issues. In the last 2 months I have gotten my period 4x all two weeks apart. I have DEF noticed how bloated and how far my stomach has been protruding! It's EVERDAY for 2 months. It has a heavy feeling/pressure to it. I don't know how else to describe it. I've gained 5-8 pounds according to my scale but I strength train 5x/week consistently and have been an athlete majority of my life. For years I was 140lbs and now it's reading 145-148. My weight only ever fluctuated a pound or two. At first I thought a pound here or there was related to muscle, but 8 pounds?!?! I don't think so! I tend to get pains in my stomach. I figured it was from the bloating esp b/c it just won't go away and its uncomfortable. When I eat, I get full very quickly and by the way my stomach looks/feels you would think I am pregnant. My mom in 2010 had a fibroid tumor and had a hysterectomy. My gram (her mom) had cervical cancer at 39 and also had a hysterectomy. I urinate more than normal which has been an on going issue since I was in high school. No medications for an over active bladder ever worked that were prescribed. I was at my gyno in January and all was fine. I am making an appt with a new gyno since I currently moved. I'm concerned b/c of my family history with my mom/gram (my brother also has cancer; Hodgkins) plus the symptoms I've been having esp the bloating/protruding stomach which is quite uncomfortable. The bloating is easily noticable with all my clothes. I'm just concerned and not sure what to think.

Thank you in advance for reading and responding. Hope everyone has a good night/day

Hello Velvet_25 and welcome to Cancer Chat.

I'm sorry to hear that you have been feeling poorly for the past two months and that these symptoms plus your family history are worrying you but I'm glad you are making an appointment with your new gyno now that you moved.

There are other ladies here on the forum who reported experiencing similar symptoms, and I hope that some of them will pop by soon to share their experiences with you.

Also, if you feel like chatting with one of our nurses might help, please know that they are available on this phone number 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

I hope all goes well for you, Velvet_25. Once you know more, come back and let us know what your doctor said, we're thinking of you.

All the best,

Hi Velvet, i cant offer any experience but just wanted to let you know you’re not alone. I find myself in this unenviable situation, albeit with slightly different symptoms. About two months ago I started having urinary urges while laying on my right hand side. Thought it was a bit bizarre but put it down to constipation and a sudden increase in gas. It didn’t cause me any other problems until one week ago when the bloating started along with the urinary urges all the time and pain in the lower stomach / pelvis area. Initially I thought it was a UTI but couldn’t work out why the urges get worse when I bend over, lay on my stomach or even try to do up my jeans. Being the anxious person I am I did the fatal thing of googling and ticked all but one symptom of ovarian cancer. I feel your pain it’s an awful stress. I have a doctors appointment in the morning and am really really scared. I’m so sorry you find yourself in a similar position and hope you have some reassurance soon

Hi Bubbles - how did you get on at the doctors,  My symptoms almost mirror yours as I went to the GP three weeks ago and they gave me antibiotics for a UTI although I had no pain passing urine just the awful pelvic ache - which can back with a vengeance this week.  I am now anxiously awaiting CA125 result.  Wishing you and Violet all the best.
