Colorectal Surgery App

Hi

Just need some reassurance, I had a colonoscopy 2 weeks ago as I have been having bleeding on and off from my back passage since April plus change in bowel movements. My colonoscopy went well and there were no polyps or inflammation - the Dr gave the all clear but said he had taken some biopsies anyway.

Today I got a letter to say that I have telephone appointment with Colorectal Surgery. Is it normal to still have an appointment if nothing was found during colonoscopy and if biopsy results are clear? Should I be worried that I have a telephone consultation? Can you still have cancer if nothing was seen during colonoscopy?
Any experiences in this situation would be helpful.

thank you

  • I would imagine they would have to contact you to give you the results of the biopsies either way. Even if they are completely clear, they'd have to tell you that for sure, so an appointment would be necessary. And cancer isn't the only thing they check for. So even if they did find something, it could be something way less serious.

I don't think you should be worried about an appointment. I think that would happen either way.
