I am sorry to hear about your wife's diagnosis at such a young age I hope she is recovering well from the surgery - it was certainly a long operation and I hope she is resting well. It's nice to hear that she is in good spirits. I am sure your support means a lot to her and that she really appreciates you being there by her side. It must be nerve racking though not to know yet whether the cancer has spread I hope you will find out very soon what the results are.

Thanks for the response. We have been referred to an an encologist as they say the cancer has spread to the lymph nodes. However that meeting isn’t for 2 weeks. Really unfair, we are sat in the unknown, why would they make us wait all this time? We need to know what’s going on, can anyone offer any advice?

Hi, I dont really know where I am at with coloncancer I have had my bowel resection done now just awaiting the results to find out if it has spread. just wanted to send massive amounts of love. reasons you may be waiting is because your wife needs to heal some from the surgery before other steps can be taken. I have a 2 to 3 week wait till I find out but my consultant said its just so if other treatment is to happen I will be strong enough. breathe deep its a process and please keep us updated, I am cheering you all on xxxxx 

Thanks for the message, so we had a meeting last week and 2 of the 33 lymph nodes showed cancerous cells so she now has a 3 month course of Chemo. Fingers crossed. We still remain very positive. Treatment starts a week on Wednesday.

Sounds like you got seen earlier than you expected. its a scary time but you are stronger than you think and heres hoping it all turns out really well for you.. xxxx

Hey, sounds like we had similar surgery (im 36) , i had a left hemi-colectomy  as i had a polyp that had turned into a cancer that was back in May i had my surgery and i had 14 lymph nodes removed and 1 was found to be positive so i had to have Chemo..... which was started in early July. 

Im having 4 rounds of oxaliplatin which is the drip and then take a load of capacetabine tablets 12 hours apart, just had my second dose now and dont feel to bad generally.

My advice would be to keep your heads up and smile :)  people who know what your going through will think your nuts which is fun but go out and do the things you used to do and dont let it control you, watch some motivational vids on you tube (bit cheesy but does get you revved up lol) theres also some good instagram survival accounts where people post thier success stories (because google is generally full of negativity, hospital visits sometimes aswell but thats another topic.... lol)

I was also diagnosed with bowel cancer in the lower part of my colon on 8th December 2018.  I had an anterior resection on 8th January to remove tumour and now have an ileostomy bag, which I am waiting for a reversal now.  I had chemotherapy for 3 months which was 4 cycles. I was 37 when diagnosed and have two children too.  Reading your post was so similar to my journey.  I wish you and your wife all the best, and please ask any questions, if I can answer them I will.

Hi, hope it's okay to jump on this post. I was diagnosed with bowel cance 10 weeks ago aged 31 and have had the surgery to remove it. I am also on the oxalaplin and capacetabine, I was just hoping you can let me know if you have down days? I feel as tho I don't like to talk to my family as I don't want to worry them but sometimes selifshy I have the why me moment's! Not sure if this is normal.

Hi Sarah88 hope you don’t mind me asking but what were your symptoms? Such a strong person to go through this at 31! I have a 10cm by 9cm tumour between my uterus and rectum. At first I was told it was in my uterus, had the camera up there to take a look and nowhere to be seen. However I’m having extreme constipation then a few weeks later uncontrollable diarrhoea. I’m adamant it’s more in my colon/back passage then near my uterus. I’m waiting for an mri to see exactly where it is as on an ultrasound it looked in my uterus but it definitely is not. Hi there, no problem at all, the only symptoms I had were bleeding when going the toilet, going toilet about 10 times a day which were very loose stools. It's quite embarrassing as sometimes I would literally have to run the toilet. I had blood test and stool tests which came back fine so if you believe you need further investigation make sure you keep going. My cancer was extremely low in my rectum, it was 10cm up from my back passage. the lady who done my camera stopped it straight away as it was so low. I had the MRI and CT scan too please keep me updated and if you need anything please let me know.
