Chemoradiation tonsil cancer

Hi guys and gals.

I'm 14 weeks post treatment for throat cancer. I am still having pain in the left side of my throat especially when I swallow food. I've been to doctor and he said I've got thrush in throat and back of tongue. It feels like I've got cotton wool stuck in my throat. Can anyone help or advise if I still should have pain 14 weeks after finished treatment.  Many thanks Tina.

  • Hi Tina

welcome to the club none of us really wants to be in. I am 10 month post radiotherapy for tonsil cancer and oral thrush still plagues me !

presume like me you have limited saliva ? Hence the reoccurring oral thrush .Do yiundrink water or warm liquids when eating food ! I know it’s nit the usual way of eating but it helps push the food down.

I have had nystatin several times and niw in Flucozole tablets which touch wood seem to be finally clearing it .

i also have a blog don’t know if you’ve come across it

the latest post is first so scriollmdown to bottom for start.

are you using duraphat toothpaste ? Plus a soft baby toothbrush and tee pee type interdental brushes to get the bits out if your teeth ?

Other than the oral thrush Hiw are you doing ?
